Hello
My name is Lauretta Codrington, and I’m the CEO of North American Track&Field League®. We’re a professional track and field league dedicated to giving track and field athletes a place to train, learn, and grow—on the track and beyond it.
Our league is built around the idea that every person deserves a chance to discover what they’re capable of, whether they’re chasing a new personal record or just having fun with friends. In addition to our work developing professional athletes, we focus on practical skill-building, positive mentorship, and supporting healthy habits for the whole family. Our athletes, coaches and volunteers work with kids age 10+ from all backgrounds, and we strive to make our programs welcoming and accessible to everyone.
This page is dedicated to explaining our youth program events. I believe there’s a real opportunity to bring the benefits of track and field to even more families by partnering with you and your library. I’d love to share how we can work together to inspire kids, connect families, and make healthy living a little bit easier—and a lot more fun.
Sincerely,
Lauretta Codrington

Proposal: Youth Track and Field Library Presentation Series
Overview
We propose a partnership between North American Track&Field League® and your local public library system to launch a new series of Youth Track and Field Presentation Events. These sessions will bring the energy and learning of the track to an accessible, family-friendly space, connecting young athletes and their parents with real-world expertise, practical skills, and a deeper appreciation for healthy living.
Program Details
Each event will be hosted at a local library branch and will run for approximately 90 minutes. The agenda balances hands-on learning with lively discussion. Here’s what families can expect:
-
Track and Field Techniques: Our coaches and youth mentors will break down the basics—how to start a sprint, proper warm-ups, improving endurance, and simple drills that can be done at home or in the park. Kids will see real demonstrations and get tips they can use right away.
-
Q&A with the Pros: We’ll invite professional track and field athletes to join each session. They’ll share stories from their journeys, offer advice on overcoming nerves and setbacks, and answer questions from kids and parents alike. These conversations are relaxed, open, and encourage everyone to join in.
-
Building a Healthy Plate: Good nutrition is the backbone of any athlete’s success. Our team will show how to put together a healthy, balanced plate using everyday ingredients. We’ll talk about the importance of fueling up before practice and recovering after, and how good food choices can help kids feel their best, both on and off the track.
-
Family-Friendly Recipes: We’ll hand out a small collection of easy, nutritious recipes with ingredients that families can try at home. These aren’t complicated chef creations—just straightforward, tasty meals and snacks that support growing bodies and busy schedules.
Audience
These events are designed for kids age 10+ and their parents or guardians. No prior track and field experience is needed. The goal is to create a welcoming environment where every child feels encouraged to participate and every family leaves with practical tools they can use.
Goals
-
Encourage active lifestyles and community involvement
-
Demystify track and field for beginners
-
Foster connections between young athletes and professionals
-
Equip families with actionable nutrition knowledge and recipes
-
Strengthen the library’s role as a hub for learning and wellness
Support Needed
We’re seeking the library’s support to provide space, help promote the events through existing channels, and coordinate schedules. Our team will handle the rest: recruiting speakers, preparing materials, and ensuring a smooth experience for all attendees. We believe this series fits perfectly with the library’s mission to inspire learning and enrich community life. We look forward to working together to make it a success.
